Dr Beth Weaver

Beth is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Social Work and Social Policy and a Research Consultant for the Centre for Youth and Criminal Justice. Her research interests and current projects are in the areas of desistance; user involvement and co-production; the regulation and governance of post-release and community supervision; experiences of punishment; and the management of those classified as high risk of serious harm. Her doctoral research on the role of civil society and the significance of social relations in offending and desistance has led this ESRC funded research project, exploring the role of through-the-prison-gate social cooperative structures of employment in processes of desistance and social reintegration.
